A Mumbai police officer has been suspended after a video of him dancing with a woman on a local train went viral on social media. The video shows the cop, SF Gupta, initially standing quietly inside the second-class ladies’ coach, observing the woman dance.
Moments later, he begins chatting with her and soon joins in, dancing along. Gupta was reportedly on duty to ensure the safety of women passengers during the train ride. However, his spontaneous act, although lighthearted, was viewed by authorities as a breach of discipline.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) took swift action after the video gained traction online. A report was filed, and Gupta was called for questioning.
Officials clarified that personnel on duty must not engage in any activity that distracts them from their responsibilities, including making videos or participating in such events.
The video was originally shared on X with the caption, “Bhaiya feelings nahi rok paye, Suspended.” It has been viewed over 520,000 times in just two days.
Public opinion remains divided. Some viewers defended Gupta, saying he was simply enjoying a moment and meant no harm. “Police wala bhi to insaan hai,” one user commented.
Others felt it was unprofessional behavior while in uniform. One user even joked, “This was probably his last dance. Now he won’t even be allowed to dance at weddings!”
