‘Shameful Behaviour’: PBKS Star Faces Backlash

Arshdeep Singh is once again facing hate on social media, this time for his sharp response to a fan after Punjab Kings suffered another defeat in IPL 2026.

The left arm pacer reacted to a fan on Snapchat after Punjab Kings lost to Mumbai Indians in Dharamsala.

A Fan had questioned Arshdeep and asked him to stop using Punjab’s name in the IPL, claiming that his actions were embarrassing fans of the franchise.

Arshdeep did not stay silent and fired back with a personal remark. “What have you done for Punjab that you feel embarrassed, Singh saab? People who still ask money from family for chips and cold drinks are now advising me whether to keep the name or not?” he replied on Snapchat.

The response quickly went viral and many fans criticised the Indian pacer for the tone of his comment. Several fans felt that such replies do not suit a cricketer who represents India at the highest level.

Hate from fans is part of the game, especially when a team is going through a difficult phase.

Cricketers have faced tough questions and trolling for years, but fans believe national players are expected to handle such situations calmly instead of reacting emotionally on social media.

Punjab Kings are currently under massive pressure after losing five matches in a row in IPL 2026. The side led by Shreyas Iyer is now in danger of missing the playoffs. Even if PBKS win their remaining matches, qualification is still not guaranteed.

The franchise has already been surrounded by multiple controversies in recent days.

Earlier, Punjab Kings posted a statement attacking “false narratives” on social media and asked people to verify information before posting.

Another controversy involved Prabhsimran Singh, who reacted strongly to reports claiming he had gained weight during the tournament.

The wicketkeeper batter posted a shirtless photo on Instagram along with a silence emoji to shut down the rumours.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep had already come under fire before the match because of comments made towards Tilak Varma in a Snapchat video.

In the clip, Arshdeep pointed the camera at Tilak and said, “Oye Andhere, sunscreen lagaaya?” while later comparing him with teammate Naman Dhir.

Many fans on social media called the remarks insensitive and accused the pacer of making colour based comments.

Fans were even more upset because this was not the first time Arshdeep had made such remarks publicly.

In another earlier video, Arshdeep had joked about Sai Sudharsan while recording him on camera and making comments about his appearance.

While performances on the field always remain the biggest talking point in cricket, repeated social media controversies have now started affecting Arshdeep’s image as well.

Fans expect Indian team players to maintain a certain level of maturity and responsibility, especially when dealing with criticism and public interactions.
