Anshul Kamboj’s debut in the Indian team has been a result of Arshdeep and NKR being ruled out due to injuries.
This has suddenly brought the youngster into the limelight as he is now being compared to some of the best pacers that adorned the garland of Team India both in the present and the past.
Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has showered praise on Anshul, comparing him to the likes of Zaheer Khan and Jasprit Bumrah.
His exact words were, “Anshul Kamboj understands the plan and also knows how to execute it in the middle. I have seen that. It’s not a trait a lot of fast bowlers have. Zaheer Khan was one of them, he was amazing. Jassi is another one.”
While these words are appreciable, they may also put immense pressure on Anshul, whose performance may get affected by seeing his comparison to such legends right at his debut.
With the fourth test scheduled to begin soon, it will be interesting to see if Anshul can step up to the occasion rather than caving in to the immense pressure.
