IPL 2026: CSK Choked, SRH Rocked Is CSK’s End Near?

Chennai Super Kings lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 runs in the 27th match of IPL 2026. Hyderabad set a target of 195 runs and Chennai could only manage 184 for 8 in 20 overs.

After winning the toss, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad decided to bowl first, but the decision did not work. Sunrisers Hyderabad got a strong start and built a solid total.

Abhishek Sharma played an aggressive innings of 59 runs in 22 balls, giving momentum early in the innings.

Travis Head scored 23 runs, while Heinrich Klaasen handled the middle overs well with 59 runs in 39 balls.

The rest of the batters did not contribute much, and Hyderabad still reached 194 despite losing wickets regularly.

Chasing 195, Chennai Super Kings started well in the powerplay but could not continue the momentum. Sanju Samson got out early for 7 runs, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad once again failed, scoring just 19 runs.

Ayush Mhatre played a quick innings of 30 runs in 13 balls, and Matthew Short was the highest scorer with 34 runs.
Sarfaraz Khan added 25 runs, but no batter could take responsibility after the start. Dewald Brevis got out on zero, and Shivam Dube scored 21 runs before getting dismissed.

Chennai lower order could not handle the pressure. Jamie Overton scored 16 runs, but it was not enough, and CSK finished at 184 for 8.

The disappointing part for Chennai is that they could not chase the target even after Sunrisers Hyderabad made mistakes in the field.

There were too many extras and poor ground fielding from SRH, but CSK still failed to take advantage. After a good powerplay, losing the match like this shows a lack of control in the batting.

This was one of the poorest batting displays from CSK this season. No batter crossed even 35 runs, and apart from Ayush Mhatre’s quick 30, there was no real impact innings. The team looked under pressure and without a clear plan in the chase.

With this loss, Chennai Super Kings now have 2 wins and 4 losses in 6 matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad have 3 wins and 3 losses in 6 matches. CSK are now in a difficult position, and if this continues, their chances this season will become very tough.
