MS Dhoni is the biggest name in the IPL and there are no two ways about. In accordance, he was fairly successful in the recent edition of the tournament.
Coming to the topic, there is a discussion on social media about whether or not Dhoni would be a part of the coming season of IPL.
Dhoni is hoping to be retained by CSK as an uncapped player which is a technicality that is a part of the IPL code of conduct. But if this doesn’t happen, and CSK gets to retain only 5 players, we don’t quite know if Dhoni would be a part of the scheme of things.
CSK has other players to retain as going after 42 year old Dhoni wouldn’t be making much practical sense. In that case, would Dhoni step away from the tournament for good?
Dhoni’s name can’t be associated with any other team apart from CSK so in case, a deal can’t be strict with the franchise, considering the new retention rules, we could not be seeing the iconic player in this year’s tournament.
