Indian coach Gautam Gambhir seems to be getting over his ‘honeymoon phase’ after the team’s phenomenal win in the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy.
The coach has decided to take a highly unique approach to travel with the India A team ahead of the India-England test series.
Gambhir informed the BCCI that he wants to personally groom the A team so that the youngsters quickly learn the ways of international cricket.
Ever since taking office, Gambhir has done a lot of reforms in the team, some of which, like the introduction of Axar Patel up the batting order, have paid off in times of need.
It does not mean that all has been hunky dory for the coach.
India’s repeated poor performances in the red ball format have raised crucial questions on both the coaching and captaincy side of things, with the warning signs becoming as clear as ever for coach Gautam and skipper Rohit Sharma.
However, with the BCCI rallying behind Gautam Gambhir on his unconventional yet innovative approach, it will be interesting to see the role his personal guidance plays in the moulding of our youngsters into potential stars of the sport in the future.
