The ICC has been mulling over the creation of a tier-based test cricketing system for quite some time now.
The provision is to put six teams in groups of two, and is expected to come into effect from the 2027-29 WTC cycle.
The problem for India with such a system is that GG’s brilliance has ensured that our team has slipped far down from where it initially was in test cricket.
GG has made sure that we lose so many test matches that Team India becomes eligible to qualify in the 2nd tier category of teams.
Many on social media have latched on to this, and are taking their sweet time making jibes at GG.
Some have hilariously claimed it all to be a massive masterstroke by GG to ensure that test cricket is promoted in nations like Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and West Indies by making sure that India plays with these nations.
Jokes aside, India needs to improve its test game to ensure that it regains its spot at the top, right where it’s supposed to be.
