Ind vs Eng: Legend Commentator Trolled; Unbearable?

For many from the old generation Navjot Singh Sidhu’s commentary on cricket brings back lots of nostalgia, his colourful depiction of the past cricket days, his poetic punchlines everything, but times have changed and so do the viewers.

During the recent India vs England match, a wave of criticism surfaced online. Many young people have raised their voice against Sidhu’s hindi commentary, saying it is outdated, gibberish, Sidhu’s non stop off topic humours are making the audience uncomfortable.

One user posted, echoing the sentiments of many who chose to switch to the English commentary feed, and this is not just about one user, many of them switched back to English commentary because they thought it was unbearable.

What once felt like entertainment now feels like noise for the Gen Z audience, who crave sharper analysis, deeper insight, and a balanced perspective.

That’s not to say Sidhu doesn’t have his loyal fanbase; many still believe that his style adds flavour to the broadcast.

But the growing disconnect with younger audiences suggests a shift in viewer expectations.

Cricket itself with the game is changing with time, but with the game itself the commentary should also evolve it shouldn’t overshadow the game but be a part of it.
