BIG Twist: India’s Surprise Series Before Asia Cup!

Fans have something to look forward to this August. After India’s tour of Bangladesh was cancelled, reports suggest that a white-ball series between India and Sri Lanka is on the cards.

Not official yet but if it happens it will be some much needed cricket before the Asia Cup in September.

India were supposed to play a white-ball series in Bangladesh this August. But with the political situation in Bangladesh not ideal, BCCI decided to push that series to 2026.

That has left a gap in the calendar and now it looks like Sri Lanka could be the new opponent for Team India.

As per reports both teams are planning a six-match series three ODIs and three T20Is to be played in the middle of August.

This window works perfectly. India’s Test series in England will finish by first week of August and they will have just enough time to switch gears.

Sri Lanka are finishing their home series against Bangladesh and will be free before they travel to Zimbabwe on August 29. So mid-August suits both sides.

This isn’t just a last minute fix it could actually be a smart move. With the Asia Cup coming up in September this short series gives both teams a chance to prepare.

India can try out different player combinations, give game time to key players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and test their bench strength. Sri Lanka will also benefit by facing a strong team like India right before a big tournament.

The possible return of Kohli and Rohit in ODIs will surely get fans talking. Both are still part of India’s 50-over plans and seeing them together before the Asia Cup could be exciting.
