IND W vs JPN W: Too Easy for Team India? Into Semis

India Women made a winning start to their Asian Games 2026 campaign, beating Japan by 8 wickets in the quarter final.

India won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Indian bowlers then bowled Japan out for just 57 runs in 19.5 overs. Shree Charani was the star with the ball, taking four wickets for 10 runs.

Shafali Verma also took two wickets, while Shreyanka Patil and Deepti Sharma picked up one wicket each. Ayaka Kato Stafford was Japan’s top scorer with 25 runs off 47 balls, while Haruna Iwasaki scored 10 runs.

India chased down the 58-run target in just five overs, losing two wickets, to win the match by 8 wickets.

Shafali Verma led the chase with an unbeaten 40 off just 15 balls. She hit the winning runs with a six, while Richa Ghosh scored 12 off 6 balls. India lost the wickets of G Kamalini and Bharti Fulmali during the chase.

With this win, India have moved into the semi finals of the Asian Games 2026.

They will now face Bangladesh on September 20. After a strong start against Japan, India will look to continue the same form in the next match.
