Zero to Hero! India Women Smash NZ

After three straight defeats that left many questions, India Women finally delivered the performance fans had been waiting for. It was a statement win driven by Smriti Mandhana’s brilliant 109, Pratika Rawal’s composed 122, and Harmanpreet Kaur’s calm leadership. The duo’s 212-run opening stand set the tone, while Jemimah Rodrigues’ unbeaten 76 powered India to 340/3 their highest total of the tournament.

Bowlers Seal the Victory

India’s bowlers backed up the batters with precision. Renuka Singh (2/25) and Kranti Gaur (2/48) led the attack as New Zealand were restricted to 271/8 in 44 overs, chasing a revised target of 325. Renuka also celebrated her 100th international wicket, marking a major milestone in her career.

New Zealand’s Fight Falls Short

New Zealand’s innings started poorly with Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine dismissed inside 12 overs. Brooke Halliday (81) and Isabella Gaze (65) tried to rebuild, but India’s sharp fielding and consistent bowling ensured the result was never in doubt.

Captain and Player of the Match Reactions

After the match, Harmanpreet Kaur praised her team’s spirit. “It wasn’t easy, but the way we bounced back shows our belief. Smriti and Pratika gave us the start we needed,” she said, adding that there’s still room to improve with the ball.

Player of the Match Smriti Mandhana shared, “It’s a huge relief. The last three games didn’t go our way, but we knew we were playing good cricket. Pratika deserves this just as much.”

India Regain Momentum Before Semis

Pratika Rawal’s calm hundred and Mandhana’s return to form came at the perfect time. India didn’t just win a match they made a statement. With confidence restored and momentum on their side, this team now looks ready to fight for the World Cup title.
