We are going to witness one of the most crucial games of the ongoing season of IPL tonight as Chennai will be taking on Punjab in what promises to be a knockout encounter.
Chennai has played nine games till now and won just two of them. They are currently at the bottom of the table with just four points to their name.
However, I win against Punjab tonight will take them to 6 points and they will also have four other games in hand. If they win all four of them, then they could proceed to 14 points on the table, which is a substantial position in itself.
However, this is just the idealistic projection of the points table, and there is nothing practical, suggesting something like this could happen.
In practical terms, the Chennai Super Kings franchise is pretty much done and dusted this year, considering the kind of lethargic and ineffective gameplay they’ve been exhibiting.
But nevertheless, we will get an official clarification on this matter today as a defeat for Chennai would mean their season is done and dusted. There will be absolutely no way back for Chennai if they lose the game against Punjab night.
From being one of the most consistent and celebrated in the history of IPL Chennai has gone on to become one of the most trolled and targeted teams this year. Lack of intent in the batting order has clearly come back to haunt this team now.
