IPL 2025: Massive Changes On The Way?

The stage is being prepared for the fast approaching IPL mega auction and the subsequent season that is to start next year. Now, here’s a look at the logistical and technical changes that are likely to be enforced in the coming season.

Firstly, the impact player rule that is being condemned by both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is likely to be retained.

Also, there is the idea to have the mega auction every 5 years which would mean that teams would undergo massive renovations once every five years.

Team likely to be allowed to retain 5 or 6 players – Teams could be allowed to retain uncapped players in an additional slot – Impact player rule likely to stay – There might be one RTM for each team – Salary purse likely to be increased – Mega auction might happen every 5 years.

If teams are permitted to retain 5 players and given the right to match one more player, we would be seeing as many as 5 new players in the side after the mega auction. This is going to be a big deal.

Also, the salary purse, which is currently at Rs 100 crore per team could be bumped up higher which will mean that big money players would receive additional salary.
