He Is your Captain who defended 112!!! Punjab Kings Make History at Mullanpur
What a thriller! Punjab Kings defended the lowest total in IPL history — 112 runs — against Kolkata Knight Riders.
It looked like a one-sided chase and then suddenly it turned into a high-voltage drama, led by none other than Shreyas Iyer. Yes, that Shreyas Iyer. Take a bow, captain!
PBKS were bowled out for 111 and most had written them off. But the bowlers had other plans. KKR were cruising at 62/2 and then got derailed by sheer brilliance from Punjab’s attack.
From there they lost 8 wickets for 34 runs — no one saw that coming. Yuzvendra Chahal turned the game around with a magical spell — Rahane, Raghuvanshi, Rinku, Ramandeep all went down.
Marco Jansen’s short ball got Russell at the most crucial moment and Arshdeep’s aggressive spell at the end sealed the deal. And yes, all this with a wet ball!
It wasn’t just about bowling — it was about leadership. Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy was next level.
He rotated his bowlers perfectly, set attacking fields and stayed calm when the game was tight.
That’s a captain leading from the front — and doing it with style. Future ICT captain? Oh, absolutely.
PBKS didn’t just win — they created a moment that will be remembered for years.
From 2% to the lowest total defended in IPL history, this was a match where belief beat the odds.
Even Ricky Ponting couldn’t hold back. “This is the best win I’ve had as a coach,” he said, beaming with pride.
Kudos to Shreyas Iyer for his captaincy.
