SRH Star Makes Huge Statement: 13 Years Later, This Happened

East Zone won the Duleep Trophy after 13 years as their final against South Zone ended in a draw in Chennai on Thursday.

East Zone secured the title because of their huge 372 run first innings lead. East Zone had scored 708 runs in their first innings, with Ishan Kishan playing a major role.

The East Zone captain scored a stunning 270, showing his form in red ball cricket and giving the team a strong position in the final.

South Zone were unable to match East Zone’s batting performance and were bowled out for 336.

Mohammed Shami also played an important role for East Zone in his 100th first class match, while Kumar Kushagra scored his sixth first class century.

East Zone continued to dominate in their second innings on the final day. Mohammad Kounian Quraishi scored an unbeaten 116, his first first class century, while Anukul Roy added 64.

Their partnership helped East Zone reach 388/7 before both teams shook hands and ended the match in a draw.

Mohammed Siraj was one of the few South Zone bowlers who managed to create some pressure, but he did not get enough support from the other end.

South Zone also missed several experienced players, including Karun Nair, Mayank Agarwal and Sai Kishore.

For Ishan Kishan, the final was not only about his 270 but also his captaincy. After East Zone posted 708, Ishan Kishan focused on taking all 10 South Zone wickets and securing the first innings lead. His plan worked, and East Zone finally ended their 13 year wait for the Duleep Trophy.
