Big Warning: Kapil Dev on Pakistan’s India Boycott

Former India World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev has reacted strongly to reports of a Kapil Dev Pakistan boycott row ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan is reportedly allowed to play the tournament but advised not to face India, raising serious concerns.

Kapil Dev said such decisions cause long term damage and do not benefit Pakistan cricket. He stated that political or board-driven calls hurt the sport more than they help. According to him, cricket should remain separate from such actions.

He added that if players themselves had decided, it would still be understandable. When governments or boards interfere, it damages the country’s image. Kapil Dev said this approach crushes the dreams of young players aiming to play at the highest level.

ICC Responds To Kapil Dev Pakistan Boycott Issue

The International Cricket Council has also reacted to the situation. In an official statement, the ICC warned that selective participation in a global tournament can have serious long term consequences. Such actions affect not just one team but world cricket.

The ICC stated that World Cups are based on equal competition. All qualified teams are expected to follow the schedule. Skipping specific matches goes against the basic structure of international tournaments.

Fans And Players Could Drift Away

Kapil Dev said Pakistan has produced many great cricketers, but blocking World Cup matches is unfair to players. He warned that such steps can destroy an entire generation. According to him, the game suffers the most in the end.

He also said repeated boycotts will push fans away over time. Emotions may run high initially, but interest fades. In the long run, fans stop caring, and no one feels the absence.

Earlier, a post on X claimed Pakistan’s government cleared participation but asked the team not to play India on February 15.
