LSG X-Factor Back, Nightmare for Opposition Teams?

Indian pacer Mayank Yadav has spent more time in rehab than on the field in recent seasons, yet his mindset remains firm. You see him preparing for a fresh start after touching 156.7 kmph in IPL 2024 and earning praise for raw pace.

Mayank begins his comeback

Mayank’s career has suffered repeated injuries. In three years, he has played only three T20Is against Bangladesh, one Ranji match and six IPL games. He is now in Bengaluru at the BCCI Centre of Excellence and has already started bowling.

LSG shows continued faith

LSG have backed him again and retained him for IPL 2026. He is set to share the new ball with Mohammed Shami. Speaking to TOI, Mayank said his recovery is going well and he aims to be available from the first day of the next season.

Guidance from senior pacers

Mayank said LSG’s trust gives him strong confidence. He looks forward to bowling with Shami and remembers learning how to manage his game during rehab at the NCA. He also credits Jasprit Bumrah for helping him understand injury management.

Path ahead for the young pacer

The next few months will decide his long term future. His pace is rare in Indian cricket but he knows consistency matters more than speed. Playing a few domestic matches before the IPL will help him settle into rhythm.

A simple goal for the season

Mayank wants one thing now, to play as many matches as possible. If he stays fit, his return can become a major boost for LSG and a big positive for India’s fast bowling group.
