More IPL, Less Jobs: Dark Truth Revealed

There is no doubt that the Indian Premier League is the biggest league when it comes to cricket.

The league features many of the top players from around the globe, trying to play their best game to score a trophy for their respective teams.

Despite generating a significant amount of revenue, Rs. 9978 Crores to be exact in 2023, many are of the belief that the IPL does more harm than good.

One such influencer came forward to reveal how the IPL is lowering people’s attention span and critical decision-making capacity by 20-25%.

A similar point was raised regarding the league’s highly unequal pay parity, where the apex players get crores of money while the ground staff get a measly sum of Rs.10-15k per month.

IPL’s increase in viewership over the past few years is also synonymous with the increase in unemployment across India, further causing a serious concern.

People need to realise that sports, which are necessary for the development of a society, should not come between one’s own career goals.

Things shouldn’t go so much out of hand that a player’s or a team’s success begins to feel like our own success, even though it has nothing to do with us at all.
