Rishabh Pant’s IPL Disaster Just Got Worse!

Rishabh Pant is back in the news—and not for the right reasons. After a disastrous IPL with Lucknow where they spent ₹27 crore and didn’t get anything, Pant is now battling injury concerns just days before the England Test series.

While batting in the nets before the first Test on June 20, Pant got hit on his left hand.

He looked in pain and didn’t bat again after that. Though an ice pack and tape was applied, the fact that he didn’t come back to the field raises questions about his match fitness.

Pant’s IPL 2025 was underwhelming. Despite flashes of brilliance, his performance was inconsistent and his captaincy didn’t inspire confidence.

For a player coming back from a long break, this series was supposed to be his big Test comeback. But now the momentum is lost.

With Kohli and Rohit stepping away from Tests, India is looking at Pant to lead the next generation.

But instead of leading from the front, he’s stuck with fitness and form issues. The pressure is mounting and his place in the team is no longer guaranteed.

From being India’s X-factor to now being a cause of concern, Pant’s situation is far from ideal.

The selectors and team management will be watching closely. If he continues to struggle, the trust they had in him will start to fade.

The England series might decide more than just the matches—it could decide Pant’s red-ball future.
