The long-standing clash between cricketer Prithvi Shaw and social media influencer Sapna Gill has taken a new turn. A Mumbai sessions court fined Shaw ₹100 for not filing his reply in Gill’s molestation case. But what does this mean, and why is the matter still unresolved?
Court Issues Warning to Prithvi Shaw
The court reprimanded Shaw for ignoring repeated summons and gave him one final chance to respond. The next hearing is scheduled for 16 December. Sapna Gill’s lawyer said Shaw often skips replies despite multiple calls.
The Incident That Sparked the Case
The controversy started at an Andheri pub on 15 February 2023. Police say Sapna Gill’s friend Shobit Thakur repeatedly asked Shaw for selfies. When Shaw refused, tempers flared.
As Shaw was leaving with friend Ashish Yadav, police allege Thakur was hit with a bat. Sapna Gill and her group then reportedly chased Yadav, demanding ₹50,000. Gill was detained but later released on bail.
Conflicting Stories From Both Sides
Sapna Gill tells a different story. She claims Shaw and Yadav invited her group to their VIP table. When Thakur asked for photos, things turned violent.
Gill alleges Shaw assaulted and molested her when she tried to stop the fight. She filed a counter-complaint, but the magistrate court refused to register an FIR and asked for an inquiry.
Unsatisfied, Gill approached the sessions court in April 2024.
What Lies Ahead?
The police and Sapna Gill present opposite versions. Shaw’s silence in court adds to public speculation. Is he ignoring the case or playing a legal strategy?
The next hearing on 16 December may finally hear Shaw’s side. Until then, the legal battle continues.
