‘Guwahati Royals’: RR Bashed for Home Venue Botchup

Fans of Rajasthan Royals are reportedly upset with the team management over a major venue decision this season. Several marquee matches have been scheduled in Guwahati instead of Rajasthan. This has disappointed many supporters who expected the games in their home state.

Matches against Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru usually attract huge crowds. These high profile fixtures also bring significant revenue for the state cricket association. Hosting them in Rajasthan could have benefited both the board and local fans.

Local supporters believe the stadium atmosphere is very different when games are played in Rajasthan. Large numbers of passionate fans usually gather to cheer for their team. Such energy and excitement are difficult to recreate when matches take place outside the state.

Many fans have taken to social media to express their anger. Some are trolling the management and joking that the team should rename itself ‘Guwahati Royals’. They feel the decision ignored the sentiments of loyal supporters in Rajasthan.

Others have criticised both the current and previous state governments. According to them, stadium infrastructure in Rajasthan has not been developed to match major venues in Chennai, Mumbai or Bengaluru. This may have influenced the decision to move games elsewhere.

Some critics have also blamed BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. They allege that smaller teams like Rajasthan Royals are being encouraged to help expand cricket in Assam. However, these claims remain part of public debate.

Regardless of the reasons, disappointment among Rajasthan Royals supporters is clearly visible. Many fans are frustrated that they may not witness their team play against top IPL sides in their own state this season.
