RCB vs GT: Orange Cap King Back? GT on Backfoot

Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the IPL 2026, chasing down 206 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The win took RCB into the top two of the points table and marked their highest successful chase at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first. Gujarat got off to a strong start through Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill.

Sai Sudarshan played the attacking role and scored a century, while Gill added 32.

Sai Sudarshan batted with clear intent from the start, something he has not always shown in Test cricket for India.

Gujarat looked set for a bigger total, but after Sudarshan was dismissed, the scoring slowed down. They finished at 205/3.

In the chase, RCB lost Jacob Bethell early, but Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli added 117 runs for the second wicket and brought RCB back into the game.

Devdutt Padikkal scored 55 off 27 balls and played the attacking role. Virat Kohli controlled the chase with 81 off 44 balls and moved to the top of the Orange Cap list.

Kohli had a chance to reach his century but was dismissed by Jason Holder while trying to play a pull shot. He showed his disappointment, but the crowd appreciated his innings with a standing ovation.

RCB lost a couple of quick wickets as Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma got out while attacking.

After that, Krunal Pandya once again made an important contribution. He scored 23 not out off 12 balls and, along with Tim David, finished the chase.

Sudarshan’s century gave Gujarat a decent total, but the team could not add enough runs in the middle overs.

That made the target manageable. RCB’s chase was built on one key partnership, and they finished the job without further problems. RCB will now play their next two home matches in Raipur.
