Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will return to India’s ODI squad for the three match series against West Indies, with Shubman Gill continuing as captain.
The Indian team will assemble in Thiruvananthapuram by Thursday, September 24, ahead of the first ODI on September 27.
Ravindra Jadeja will also return to the team after being out of the ODI setup since the series against New Zealand earlier this year.
However, India will be without several regular players for the series. Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel are currently part of India’s Asian Games squad in Japan.
Their absence has given Ruturaj Gaikwad, Auqib Nabi and Naman Dhir an opportunity in the ODI squad. Nabi and Dhir could also make their ODI debuts against West Indies.
Nitish Kumar Reddy has been withdrawn from the Asian Games squad and added to the ODI team. The all-rounder will get an opportunity to build his bowling workload, with Hardik Pandya unavailable.
KL Rahul has also been named vice-captain and wicketkeeper in the squad. Dhruv Jurel is the other wicketkeeping option.
The series will be important for India’s ODI combination, particularly with the 2027 World Cup approaching. Rohit and Kohli will add experience to the top order, while Gill will continue to lead the side.

The first ODI will be played in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, followed by the second ODI in Guwahati on September 30 and the third ODI in New Chandigarh on October 3.
