IND vs WI: GT Star’s Last Chance? Spot in Danger!

The Test against West Indies is more than just another game for India. It’s a big moment for young batter Sai Sudharsan, who has had a quiet start to his Test career so far.

Pressure Mounts After a Low Score

Sudharsan managed only 7 runs in the first Test at Ahmedabad, which India won by an innings and 140 runs. While the team dominated, his place in the playing XI has become a serious talking point among fans and experts.

Ashwin Backs the Youngster

Former India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has publicly supported the Tamil Nadu batter. He praised Sudharsan’s temperament and calm approach but reminded him that this series is his best chance to prove himself.

“For Sai Sudharsan to cement his place, you won’t get a better series than this,” Ashwin said. “He’s young, very motivated, a high-quality player. I really hope he gets runs in Delhi because Indian cricket is very competitive.”

Competition Getting Intense

Ashwin admitted he wasn’t sure about Sudharsan’s mindset right now but hoped he would bounce back strongly in the second Test. He also pointed out that Devdutt Padikkal is right behind him in the pecking order, recalling how Padikkal impressed in a practice match in Perth against Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.

“Padikkal was unbelievably good. He’s breathing down Sudharsan’s neck a little bit, and that’s good for Indian cricket,” Ashwin said.

No Room for Another Failure

The competition is fierce, with players like Abhimanyu Easwaran also waiting for a chance. For Sudharsan, this means there’s no room for another failure. Reports suggest that if he doesn’t perform in the second Test, Rishabh Pant could return for the South Africa series, with Dhruv Jurel moving up to No. 3.

A Defining Test Ahead

Ashwin’s message is clear: Sudharsan has the talent, but now it’s time to turn that potential into runs. The second Test isn’t just about form—it’s about survival in India’s power-packed lineup. Sudharsan has the technique and support, but only consistent performances will keep him in the mix.
