Star Indian opener Sanju Samson has come forward to reveal his knowledge of several of the Indian languages, and how it has helped him in both personal and cricketing aspects of his life.
Sanju said that since he didn’t learn Hindi consciously, but the language came to him naturally through his surroundings as he had spent the first six to seven years of his life living in Delhi, where Hindi is the primary spoken language.
Apart from this, spending a significant part of his life living near the border of Tamil Nadu gave him exposure to the native speakers of Tamil, making it pretty easy for him to learn that language as well.
As Sanju is a native Keralite, his knowing and being fluent in Malayalam is an absolute no-brainer.
The public was massively impressed to hear that their favourite player was such an avid multilingual and held respect towards every language that he knows.
Sanju said that knowing three languages made it very easy for him to communicate with his teammates from different parts of India as he was often able to skip the language barrier completely.
His statements come as a tight slap to the faces of all those keyboard warriors who believe that a language is something that should be gatekept to one region to create an inflated sense of pride among the native speakers.
Instead, languages should be used as productive tools to communicate better with people from all aspects of life to create bonds and understand their experiences in a better way.
