Sanju’s Disaster Form Continues: Out of T20 WC?

Indian opener Sanju Samson’s poor run in T20 internationals continued, raising serious doubts about his place in the T20 World Cup plans. Another low score has added pressure on him, especially with competition increasing within the Indian squad.

Another Failure at the Top

In the latest match, Samson was dismissed for a duck on the very first ball he faced. He was bowled by Matt Henry and walked back to the pavilion visibly disappointed. The dismissal summed up his current struggles with the bat.

Numbers That Raise Concern

In his last 14 T20I innings, Samson’s performances have been inconsistent and largely below expectations. His average as an opener stands at just 18, with a strike rate of 126. These numbers do not match the aggressive approach of India’s current T20 setup.

No Impact Starts or Big Scores

Samson has failed to provide quick starts at the top of the order. He has also struggled to convert starts into match-winning scores. This has weakened his case as a reliable opener in pressure situations.

K Srikanth’s Blunt Assessment

Former Indian cricketer K Srikanth said Samson missed a big opportunity. He pointed out that Ishan Kishan is scoring runs and also keeps wickets. According to him, competition is intense and Samson needed to show patience and consistency.

Selection Pressure Mounts

With Tilak expected to come into the picture, Samson’s position looks even more uncertain. Ishan Kishan is likely to replace him as the preferred wicketkeeper-batter. Even strong performances in the remaining games may not be enough now.
