Misrepresentation and twisting of facts have become all too common when it comes to today’s generation armed with the power of social media, not knowing how to control it.
In a strange series of events, Indian cricketer Amit Mishra had to face heat from social media after news went viral of a domestic violence case filed on him and his family by his wife.
Reports started circulating where it was said that Amit’s family demanded Rs.10 Lakh along with a Honda City car from the bride’s family, leading to the wife’s harassment and subsequent allegations of domestic violence against Amit.
However, there appears to be a ‘small’ twist in the story. Amit Mishra, the cricketer in question, is unmarried!
While the news was about some other cricketer named Amit Mishra, the news outlets didn’t spend a second doing their research, slapping the wrong Amit’s picture everywhere with the story.
Although Amit is not playing in the IPL in 2025, he was a vital leg-spinner for LSG in 2024, making it his last IPL season yet since his debut back in 2008.
With Amit Mishra now threatening legal action, it will be interesting to see if the media accepts its mistake, taking the necessary steps to reverse the damage done to the wrong person.
