Gill’s Rise to Stardom: Shocking Secret Revealed!

Every cricket star has an unseen hand guiding their journey. For Shubman Gill, it was not a celebrity coach but Avinash Kumar, the son of a fruit juice seller in Mohali. His role quietly shaped Gill’s batting and confidence at a crucial stage.

Avinash’s father, Ram Vilas Shah, sold mosambi juice outside Gate No. 1 of the IS Bindra Stadium. Young Shubman and his father Lakhwinder Gill were regular customers. Avinash, two years older than Shubman, had trained as a fast bowler but gave up cricket due to financial struggles.

A Chance Meeting That Changed Everything

In 2014, Lakhwinder reminded Avinash of his talent and encouraged him to pursue cricket again. Inspired by a video of a side-arm bowler, Avinash began training and soon became Shubman’s personal side-arm thrower. His consistent practice sessions helped refine Gill’s batting skills.

More Than Just Practice

Avinash never took money for his help, despite earning only ₹150–200 a day. Instead, Shubman’s family supported him during festivals and emergencies. Beyond financial help, Avinash’s role was vital in Gill’s development as a T20 batsman. He taught Shubman to balance caution with aggression, turning singles into sixes when needed.

The Hidden Influence

Shubman Gill’s rise is a story of talent, discipline and unseen mentors. With guidance from Avinash Kumar and unwavering support from Lakhwinder Gill, Shubman evolved into the adaptable batsman admired today. Their quiet efforts remind us that true heroes often work in the background.
