The ongoing fourth test match between Australia and India is getting worse by the hour for Indian fans. Thanks to shambolic performances from superstar players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the second innings. India is literally crumbling now.
Both Rohit(9) and Virat(5) got out very cheaply when a lot was expected of them to salvage these all important for test match. Lack of temperament and poor judgement have resulted in their wickets.
As it appears team, India is in a position where they must look ahead of these two superstars, at least in the test format.
Both Kohli and Rohit are well passed their prices in test Cricket, and there is no point in holding on to them while they are becoming nothing but additional baggage to the team as a whole.
It is true that they have been remarkable for team India in the past, but the recent performances have been saying the exact opposite. They are barely contributing in double digits to the team while youngsters like Nitish Kumar, Reddy, and Yashasvi Jaiswal are putting their everything.
Perhaps it is time for this subcontinent nation to look past these two stars and instead, bring in youngsters who have the desired talent and temperament at this level.
The first thing in order could be the retirement of Rohit Sharma from the test format after this hugely disappointing series for him at a personal level. Same could be the case with Kohli as well, but his retirement doesn’t appear to be on the line.
