Biopic on Flop Cricketer: Another Disaster?

M.S. Dhoni’s superhit biopic sensationalized the genre of biopic in Bollywood but it has eventually turned into a sloppy run.

Films like Sachin: A Billion Dreams, Azhar, Gold, Maidaan, Chandi Champion and 83 have all proven that biopic as a genre doesn’t work.

Even Kangana’s Emergency on Indira Gandhi is a most recent political biopic that has also failed terribly. While biopic is not working for bigshot celebrity sportsperson the makers of Vinod Kambli’s biopic are trying to reach for the stars.

Fans expect that this will land on its chin and no one will be interested in watching a long-forgotten cricketer’s life on big screens.

Vinod Kambli’s deteriorated health and his awkward meeting with Sachin Tendulkar drew a little bit of attention in recent times but his era as a sportsperson is well beyond the days of the current generation of sports fans.

Netizens claim that if the film is made it will be crushed at the box office and soon be forgotten. They feel that the lack of audience interest might lead the makers to change their decision.
