Broadcaster Sanjay Manjrekar stated that Test cricket truly tests a player, while ODIs are easier. He also expressed disappointment that Kohli did not improve his red ball technique during lean phases, which added fuel to the Virat Kohli retirement discussion.

Mohammad Kaif Calls Kohli an All-Format Great

Responding strongly, Mohammad Kaif said Virat Kohli is the best all-format player of his generation. He pointed out that Kohli scored over 9,000 runs and 30 centuries in Test cricket, proving his ability in the longest format.

Kaif Slams ‘Easy Format’ Claims

Kaif dismissed suggestions that Kohli chose an easier format as foolish and childish. He stressed that no format in cricket is easy, and success depends on how you handle pressure, skill demands, and challenges across different conditions.

Comparing Test Cricket and ODIs

While Test cricket requires patience and mental strength, Kaif noted that playing 50 overs in ODIs is also demanding. He said every format tests a player differently, and judging effort based on ball colour makes little sense.

Fans Rally Behind Kohli

Fans have supported Kaif and feel you should allow Kohli to choose his path. Many believe Kohli has already done enough for the country, and if he wants to focus only on ODIs, it deserves respect, not judgement.
