96 Part 2: A Sequel Disaster Thankfully Avoided

Following the success of Meiyazhagan, director C. Prem Kumar has started the script work for his most anticipated sequel to 96.

Earlier, buzz suggested that C. Prem Kumar was in discussions with rising star Pradeep Ranganathan to act as the lead in 96’s sequel and that shooting would soon commence.

However, C. Prem Kumar, in a recent interview, clarified that the discussions with Pradeep Ranganathan were for a different project and that 96 Part 2 can only be made with the original cast of 96. This has now gone viral.

Following this, some netizens on social media commented that C. Prem Kumar has made a wise decision, as making 96’s sequel with different castings, like the usual Kollywood sequel template, would have made 96 Part 2 a terrible disaster and spoiled the legacy of the first part.

Even though Pradeep Ranganathan is a good actor, he would not be suitable for 96, so it’s a good call from C. Prem Kumar to go with the same casting for the sequel.

96 is one of the best romantic dramas in Kollywood, and since, the 96 Part 2 script update, it has a huge expectation among the audience. It remains to be seen when the 96 Part 2 shooting is going to start and how it’s going to shape up.
