Recently, the trailer of the upcoming Kollywood film Anbil Avan starring Ashok Selvan and Preity Mukhundhan in the lead roles and directed by Kaarthikeyan was released and has gone viral on social media with mixed reviews from audiences.

The story and the screenplay of Anbil Avan were written by director Vignesh Raja, who is known for his film Por Thozhil and Anbil Avan is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on September 25th.

After the massive success of Blast, Preity Mukhundhan appeared as one of the female leads in Idhayam Murali. However, it ended up as a disappointment and her performance went unnoticed.

Since Preity Mukhundhan is returning after the failure of Idhayam Murali, the success of Anbil Avan is crucial for the actress to regain momentum and emerge as a prominent leading lady in Kollywood.

However, after watching the trailer, while some people claim that Anbil Avan looks like a solid romantic action thriller and believe it will become a successful venture, others note that it seems like a remake of the Fahadh Faasil film Varathan.

Even though the makers have not claimed it to be a remake, several viewers suggest that the trailer closely matches Varathan. They also note that Varathan is a solid film and if director Kaarthikeyan manages to capture even 80% of its tension, Anbil Avan could become a blockbuster.

Nevertheless, there is still no official confirmation on whether Anbil Avan is a remake of Varathan and all these are just social media speculations. It remains to be seen whether Anbil Avan will live up to audience expectations and emerge as a successful venture, helping Preity Mukhundhan make a strong comeback upon its release on September 25th.
