Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie: Aug 14 Release Doubtful?

Superstar Rajinikanth is set to star in the upcoming film Coolie, directed by Kollywood’s renowned filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Lokesh has built a massive fan following with his successful films Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo, all part of his expanding cinematic universe.

Now, Rajinikanth is joining this universe with Coolie, which is currently in its final stages of production. However, insiders from the Tamil film industry suggest that there is still uncertainty surrounding the film’s release date.

Initially, Coolie was expected to release on May 1, but the date has now been shifted to August 14.

There are doubts about whether the film will meet this new release date, as War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and NTR, is also slated for release on the same day.

War 2 is expected to have a massive pan-India release, leading to a direct box-office clash between the two films. Some industry insiders are advising the Coolie team to either prepone or postpone the release by a week or two to avoid this competition.

Although Lokesh has been focusing heavily on Coolie, he has remained tight-lipped about updates, which has frustrated fans and sparked doubts about the August 14 release. He has also made himself unavailable on social media.

Reports indicate that on May 1, the original release date, a significant update will be shared, likely resolving the confusion about the film’s release timeline.

In addition to Rajinikanth, Coolie also stars Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, and Upendra in key roles, further fueling excitement.

Even if War 2 releases on the same day, the star-studded cast of Coolie is expected to give it a strong challenge at the box office.

Fans are eagerly awaiting updates, and the industry expects Coolie to be a massive success, following Rajinikanth’s big comeback with Jailer.

Despite the competition, some trade analysts believe that the two films target different genres and regional audiences, which may prevent any significant box-office issues.
