Talented young filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is considered one of the finest filmmakers in South Indian cinema. However, his latest film Coolie with Rajinikanth does not live up to expectations. The story and screenplay lack freshness and fail to connect with the audience.
In terms of presenting Rajinikanth, the director has missed the mark. Films like Jailer used Rajini’s natural aura effectively, creating memorable moments that audiences loved. Coolie, however, hardly makes use of this strength.
A superstar like Rajinikanth demands sequences that highlight his presence and signature style. Sadly, Lokesh Kanagaraj did not focus on these aspects in Coolie. The film lacks the iconic “Thalaivar Rajinikanth” moments that fans eagerly anticipate.
From start to finish, the character feels bland and underdeveloped. It is surprising that a director known for understanding the mass pulse would craft such a weak presentation of a superstar like Rajinikanth.
