Sivakarthikeyan is all set to return after the massive success of Amaran with his upcoming film Madharaasi, directed by AR Murugadoss. The film is scheduled for a global theatrical release on 5th September.
According to recent reports, the makers have planned an 8-week OTT window for the Hindi version titled Dil Madharaasi. This strategy follows a similar path taken by Rajinikanth’s Coolie, aiming for a wide release in multiplex chains across North India.
Despite this move, trade experts say Madharaasi lacks buzz in the Hindi market. Even though it’s releasing in top chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis, there’s little to no hype surrounding the Hindi version.
The team seems confident in their film’s performance, which may be why they accepted a lower OTT deal due to the delayed digital release in Hindi. However, some feel this is overconfidence, especially considering AR Murugadoss’ recent Hindi flop, Sikandar.
Many argue that without proper promotion, the Hindi version may struggle. It remains to be seen whether Madharaasi will defy expectations or prove critics right when it hits North Indian screens on 5th September.
