Director Defends ‘Bad Girl’ With Explosive Words

Yesterday, the grand pre-release event of Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dragon took place in Chennai. During the event, Mysskin’s speech about the controversy surrounding Bad Girl went viral on social media.

Mysskin, who plays a crucial role in Dragon, stated in his speech that he didn’t want to dwell too much on the controversy but emphasized that Bad Girl should not be judged solely based on its trailer. He insisted that the film has multiple layers beyond what was shown in the promotional material.

He also highlighted that Bad Girl is directed by Varsha Bharath, a female filmmaker. He remarked that once every 20 years, a female director emerges in the industry, and instead of resisting her, the film fraternity should support her and ensure the film’s release.

Meanwhile, strong buzz suggests that Bad Girl has faced backlash since its trailer launch, with many opposing its release due to its bold and taboo subject matter.

Mysskin’s speech at Dragon’s pre-release event has triggered discussions on social media. Many netizens expressed those restricting films like Bad Girl is not a good sign for the industry, as it stifles creative freedom.

On the other hand, some people appreciated Mysskin for openly expressing his views at film events. Even though he used cuss words in his speech, they believe his intentions were pure.

Many consider him one of the industry’s most genuine voices, as he consistently supports medium-budget films. His speech about Bad Girl has now sparked a wider debate.
