Sikandar: Murugadoss Finished or Last Hope Left?

AR Murugadoss, once a top-tier director, has been struggling to regain his lost glory after a series of flops like Akira, Spyder, and Darbar.

His latest Bollywood outing, Sikandar, has opened to unanimous disastrous reviews, making things worse for his career. Now, the biggest collateral damage of this failure might be Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharasi, which was already 80% completed before Murugadoss took a detour to direct Sikandar.

Sivakarthikeyan took a huge risk by letting Murugadoss put Madharasi on hold for Sikandar. The idea was that Murugadoss’ Bollywood comeback would boost Madharasi’s prospects. However, Sikandar’s failure has backfired badly, potentially damaging the prospects of Madharasi.

This situation is eerily similar to Ram Charan’s Game Changer dilemma, where he allowed Shankar to work on Indian 2 before finishing their film.

Indian 2’s mixed reception has now made Game Changer’s hype take a hit. With Madharasi, Sivakarthikeyan might have made the same costly mistake.

However, some argue that Sikandar’s failure isn’t entirely Murugadoss’ fault, as Salman Khan was heavily involved in the creative decisions.

This means Madharasi is the real and last test for Murugadoss—if it fails, then he might be truly finished as a star director. For now, all hopes rest on Madharasi to salvage his reputation.
