Nayanthara’s critically acclaimed Mookuthi Amman sequel, Mookuthi Amman 2, directed by Sundar C, kicked off with a pooja ceremony yesterday, and the shooting began today.
During the pooja ceremony, the movie’s producer, Ishari K. Ganesh, revealed in his speech that Sundar C completed the script for the film in just 30 days.
He also mentioned that Mookuthi Amman 2 is being made with a budget of over ₹100 crores and is set to be a proper pan-Indian movie. Nayanthara is undergoing a month-long fast in preparation for her role as Amman.
Ishari K. Ganesh’s speech has now gone viral, with many people on social media questioning why RJ Balaji was not invited to the pooja ceremony. Since he originally created the Mookuthi Amman universe, some believe that if he directed Mookuthi Amman 2, it would have been a sure-shot blockbuster.
However, Sundar C is not considered a promising director, as he primarily makes masala films, many of which are deemed cringeworthy. Additionally, Nayanthara’s recent films haven’t met expectations. Tamil audiences feel that spending 100 crores on this project is unnecessary.
That said, Mookuthi Amman 2 is the biggest movie of Sundar C’s career. We will have to wait and see whether it turns out to be a blockbuster success and helps Nayanthara make a strong comeback.
