Following the commercial success of Karuppu and Vishwanath and Sons, Suriya is currently starring as the lead in the tentatively titled Suriya 47 directed by Jithu Madhavan. According to reports, the shooting of this film is almost in its final stages, and the Suriya 47 team is aiming to release the film for Diwali.

Even before the release of Vishwanath and Sons, Suriya officially announced that he is reuniting with TJ Gnanavel for his 48th film. Suriya 48 has now officially gone on floors and director TJ Gnanavel has already started the pre-production work for the film.

In this scenario, now there is strong speculation that Suriya and the upcoming film Mandaadi‘s director, Mathimaaran, are planning to collaborate on a film under the production of Kalaipuli S Thanu.

Kalaipuli S Thanu was supposed to produce Suriya’s most anticipated film Vaadivaasal directed by Vetrimaaran. However, due to certain circumstances, Vaadivaasal got shelved and Thanu, who already has Suriya’s dates, is planning to utilize them by collaborating with Mathimaaran.

Furthermore, reports suggest that if this collaboration materializes, it will be locked as Suriya’s 49th film and shooting for this project will begin once Suriya completes his film with TJ Gnanavel.

Even though there have been no official updates on this collaboration, many social media trackers suggest that this collaboration will only happen based on the results of Mandaadi. They note that although Mandaadi’s trailer made a solid impact, no one can predict the outcome until the release of the film.

Therefore, they claim a big actor like Suriya might take some time to lock in a director like Mathimaaran and if Mandaadi emerges as a blockbuster success, then this collaboration might progress to the next stage.

However, all of these are just social media speculations and it remains to be seen whether Mandaadi will emerge as a successful venture, leading Suriya to collaborate with Mathimaaran upon its release on September 10th.
