Suriya, after the back-to-back failures of Kanguva and Retro, has recently completed the shooting of his next film, directed by RJ Balaji, which was earlier tentatively titled Suriya 45.
Today, as a birthday special for RJ Balaji, the Suriya 45 team officially revealed the movie’s title “Karuppu” by releasing a special poster.
Earlier buzz suggested that this Karuppu movie would be along the lines of Mookuthi Amman, and Suriya is set to play the character of a god.
Now, after the title reveal, it’s almost confirmed that the movie is going to be a devotional drama similar to Mookuthi Amman, as Karuppanaswamy is a popular folk deity in Tamil Nadu
Following the update, while some Suriya fans on social media started to celebrate the title some fans are in fear, as it seems like an experimental attempt by the actor.
They believe that in his current downfall phase, trying different genres is a huge risk, and he should do a proper commercial film to make a comeback in his acting career.
However, some trade experts responded that due to the failures of Kanguva and Retro, the Suriya 45 movie so far doesn’t have a strong buzz, and it was expected that the title reveal would ignite it. However, the title reveal seems to have had little impact, and the buzz remains quite low.
It remains to be seen whether Karuppu emerges as a blockbuster success and helps Suriya make a comeback in his acting career.
