The Malayalam movie Sookshma Darshini, starring Nazriya Nazim and Basil Joseph in the lead roles and directed by Mc Jithin, was released in theatres on 22nd November and has acquired positive responses from both critics and audiences.
Major OTT platforms were not even considering Malayalam movies before the release of the movie, but only after it became a blockbuster the OTT platforms go to any extent to bag the blockbuster Malayalam movie’s OTT rights.
This has previously happened for many Malayalam movies, as per reports, even for the movie Manjummel Boys, the OTT rights were not acquired by any OTT platform before the release, as the OTT platforms asked the movie for a low price and the producer neglected.
But once it became a super blockbuster, then the producer set his bid, and the OTT platforms accepted it.
The same scenario is going to happen for Sookshma Darshini, as before the theatrical release, no OTT platforms had acquired the rights, but now the movie is acquiring super positive responses from the audiences and critics.
Still, no OTT platforms have sealed the OTT rights, so it’s going to be a lottery for the producer of this movie, as he may bid a huge price considering the super positive responses from the audiences, says the trade experts.
