The shooting of Vijay’s last movie, Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, is progressing at a fast pace. According to reports, the OTT rights for this movie were acquired by Amazon Prime Video for ₹105 crore.
Following this, many trade experts commented that ₹105 crore for Vijay’s final and highly anticipated movie, Jana Nayagan, is comparatively low, given the massive expectations surrounding it and its potential to earn huge viewership for the platform.
At the same time, reports suggest that by selling OTT rights for ₹105 crore to Amazon Prime Video, Jana Nayagan has secured the third position among the top 3 OTT deals for Tamil films this year.
While the second position was secured by Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which was also acquired by Amazon Prime Video for ₹110 crore, the top position was locked by Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life, which fetched a whopping ₹149 crore from Netflix.
With this list, it’s evident that apart from Coolie and Jana Nayagan, Thug Life is set to be one of Kollywood’s biggest players this year in terms of business and box office impact.
