
The AAA gaming industry has been growing but the big players like “Ubisoft” and “EA” have been struggling to keep up with the quality. On the other hand companies like Fromsoftware and Insomniac who have niche base of followers have churned out great products that have gained critical acclaim as well as the praise of the masses.
AAA titles are already expensive which are sometimes not even fairly priced. Now EA wants to put ads into the games to ruin it furthermore. The will to churn out every drop of economic liquid one holds is something EA is infamous for.
A player wants a complete experience of engaging gameplay with balanced story telling and chatacter archs. And there are only few things that ruin the gaming experience and force the palyer out of the game loop, micro transaction being one of them. Asking for money for some specific experience when the user has already paid for the entire game is a greedy business move no gamer likes. EA has been the biggest culprit of this.
Now their new stratergy to put ad into games sounds like a dystopian nightmare to all the gamers. EA CEO Andrew Wilson admitted that they are already working on it and this might be their next big step to earn more out of games. He says they need to be very carful with this idea as the gaming community is very wide spread. If this step of EA creates another form of interruption for gamers, the outcome might not be very bright.
