Indian UPI’s Grand Launch In Mauritius

India is making great advancements in the field of financial technology everyday. A heavily cash-dependent economy has not changed into one where cashless transactions are not only accessible but a reality for even the small business owners like vendors and hawkers. The UPI has played a huge role in making this transition in the country. Now, the same technology is now being exported to other countries making life of tourists and travelers easy.

After a successful launch in France, the Indian UPI is ready to be launched in this island nation in the Indian Ocean. The MEA has informed that on the 12th of February, UPI services will be launched in Mauritius allowing Indian tourists to make payment through their UPI apps.

This service will also be available for all Mauritian nationals who travel to India. The RuPay card services will also be extended to Mauritius which will allow the country to issue cards based on the RuPay technology working in both India and Mauritius.

The launch would be witnessed by the leaders of three countries, India, Mauritius and Sri-Lanka. Sri-Lanka will also be getting access to the UPI on the very same date. The launch of UPI at the Eiffel Tower paved the way for the technology in other countries.
