India’s First Self Made IoT Microprocessor

The design, manufacture, and bootup of Mindgrove Start-up’s first commercial RISC V-based secure IoT system on chip in India have been celebrated by India’s IIT Madras (IIT Madras).

The purpose of the event was to introduce students to innovation and entrepreneurship through the ‘IITM Start-up 100 Mission’ and to launch the ‘Triumph Talks’ series. Funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Mindgrove is an IIT Madras and IITM Pravartak-incubated firm under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) plan.

The IIT Madras Incubation Cell has so far supported 351 start-ups, bringing in a total of Rs. 10,425 crore in funding from venture capitalists and angel investors. The start-ups submitted 210+ patents, produced over 10,000 employment, and brought in Rs. 3,600 crore in income during the 2022–2023 fiscal year.

Mindgrove Technologies has launched India’s first commercial high-performance SoC, ‘Secure IoT’, at the Veena and Pratap Subrahmanyam Centre for Digital Intelligence, Security Hardware and Architecture (V&PS – ODISHA).

The RISC-V-based chip, estimated to cost 30% less than other chips in the similar segment, will enable Indian OEMs to use an Indian SoC in their products, reducing the cost of feature-rich devices without compromising on high-end features. This secure IoT chip can be used in various domains, including smartwatches, smart city devices, and connected home devices.
