Semiconductor Revolution Begins In India

The Indian government has established manufacturing facilities in the nation in response to the global scarcity of semiconductors caused by supply chain interruptions. This industry is essential to the digital economy.

India is expected to import more than $80 billion worth of semiconductor chips in 2026 and $110 billion by 2030, making it the second-largest importer of these chips. With a $10 billion budget, the Indian government started the India Semi Conductor Mission in 2021 with the goals of establishing technical sovereignty and advancing national security.

The purpose is to meet 10% of the global semiconductor market, which is estimated to be worth $1.1 trillion, by encouraging companies to develop chip manufacturing facilities in Gujarat and Assam.

Thanks to its vast educational infrastructure and conducive research climate, Taiwan’s TSMC is the industry leader in semiconductor chip production. India needs to make investments.

With the goal of capturing 10% of the $1.1 trillion global semiconductor market, the Indian government has started the India Semiconductor Mission to alleviate the worldwide semiconductor deficit.

The $10 billion goal aims to attract businesses to set up production plants in Gujarat and Assam. Similar to Taiwan’s success in creating semiconductor chips, the objective is to achieve technological sovereignty and boost national security. The goal is to promote public-private partnerships in training and research.
