Air India Flyer Slams ‘Useless’ Maharaja Perks

A frequent flyer and Platinum member of Air India’s Maharaja Club has voiced strong frustration with the loyalty programme. You can sense the disappointment as the traveller calls it one of the most underwhelming programmes in the domestic aviation space.

Lack of genuine recognition
The flyer travels at least twice a week for work yet feels the airline does not recognise true loyalty. You expect better treatment at this tier, but the experience remains far from rewarding or consistent.

Complimentary upgrades rarely offered
The traveller says upgrades are almost impossible unless economy seats are full. Even when premium or business seats remain empty, elite members are left in cramped seats. This affects comfort and raises questions about the programme’s purpose.

Reward points losing value
The value of miles has dropped sharply. The flyer redeemed nearly 100000 miles for a Delhi to Bali round trip and found the return disappointing. You would expect better benefits at this level of loyalty.

Seat allocation problems
When aircraft changes occur, even Platinum members receive middle seats instead of their preferred emergency exit seats. This recurring issue shows a lack of basic attention to member profiles and comfort.

An outdated loyalty structure
Air India’s Maharaja Club appears outdated and uncompetitive. You receive little real benefit despite long term loyalty, and the problems worsen when combined with delays, poor service, and uneven in-flight quality.
