A passenger has expressed anger after repeated rescheduling of Air India flights. The situation raised questions about consumer rights and highlighted serious concerns with the airline’s international operations.
Trouble on the Toronto-Delhi Route
The journey involved a round trip between Toronto and Delhi. Both the outbound and return legs were disrupted multiple times. The constant changes left the traveller with delays and added hours of travel time.
Outbound Flight Delayed by 14 Hours
The original flight was meant to depart at 1:15 and land at 00:35. After two reschedules, the arrival was delayed by over 14 hours. The overall travel time also increased from around 13 hours 50 minutes to nearly 15 hours 30 minutes.
Return Flight Worst Affected
The return journey faced the biggest setback. Initially booked for November 7 at 15:15, it was supposed to land in Toronto the same evening at 19:35. Instead, the departure shifted to November 9 at 01:35, causing a 40-hour delay.
Nonstop Flight Turns into Marathon
To make matters worse, the nonstop flight turned into a long haul of over 20 hours. The airline added refueling stops in Vienna or Kolkata, making the journey exhausting and stressful for the passenger.
Escalation Against Air India Likely
These repeated changes highlight Air India’s operational issues on North American and European routes. In this case, escalating the matter to the DGCA in India or the CTA in Canada appears reasonable and justified.
