Deal Broken: Alaska-Singapore Flyers Lose Perks

Alaska Airlines and Singapore Airlines have confirmed that their loyalty partnership will officially end on October 1, 2025. The tie-up began in 2017 and allowed passengers to earn and redeem points across both carriers’ networks. It was an important option for travellers moving between Asia-Pacific and the United States.

End of Redemption Benefits

From October, Alaska’s Atmos Rewards members will no longer be able to redeem points on Singapore Airlines flights. Similarly, Singapore’s KrisFlyer members will lose access to Alaska Airlines redemptions. Limited earning opportunities will continue until December 31, 2025.

Booking Rules Change in 2026

Starting January 1, 2026, Alaska passengers will only earn points on Singapore Airlines flights if booked directly through Alaska’s website. This shift limits flexibility and reduces the broader appeal of the partnership for frequent flyers.

Loss for Frequent Flyers

Singapore Airlines’ premium cabins were highly sought after in Alaska’s program, making this withdrawal a major setback for loyal travellers. Analysts believe the decision highlights Singapore Airlines’ focus on reassessing external partnerships amid rising costs and evolving strategies.

Interline Agreements Remain

Despite the loyalty break, interline agreements will stay in place. Passengers can still book connecting itineraries across both airlines’ networks. However, frequent flyers may increasingly rely on oneworld partners like Japan Airlines or Cathay Pacific to retain redemption flexibility on transpacific routes.
